Our next CCIM luncheon is on March 12, 2009. We will have speaker Marlene Gafrick with the City of Houston talking about "Weathering the Downturn and Preparing for the New Economy". On March 9, 2009, CCIM will hold the CI 102 Market Analysis for Commercial Investment Real Estate course at the Houston Apartment Association.

A few months ago, Dick Klein invited me to form a committee to work on upgrading our chapter web site. With the help of 13 tech savvy members, I am excited to report that our new web site www.ccimhouston.org is complete. After two meetings, our objective and respective tasks were established. We determined that while the site had a lot of useful information, it needed to provide more relevance and value to both our broker and non-broker members in their everyday transactional activities. Topic: Weathering the Downtown and Preparing for the New Economy.
Thursday, March 12, 2009 11:30 AM at the The HESS Club As Houston's top planning and development official, Marlene brings more than 27 years' experience in land development that includes ordinance development, implementation and enforcement, permitting and coordination with public agencies and special districts. Marlene joined the department 27 years ago as an associate planner fresh out of school. She most recently held the position of deputy director before being named director by Mayor Bill White on July 7, 2005. She holds a B.S. Economics in Urban and Regional Planning from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.
