President's Message

Dear CCIMs and Fellow Colleagues:

These past several months have been busy. We have traveled to Washington DC for legislative meetings and Chapter business and to Fort Worth for our Technology Expo Conference. In addition to our monthly luncheons and great speakers, we had our annual CCIM Crawfish Boil with over 125 people in attendance.

Several of us attended the CCIM Institute Mid-Year Business Meetings in Fort Worth. While there I had the pleasure of pinning our two new Designees that took and passed their Comprehensive Exam.  Please take the opportunity to congratulate and welcome: Andre Granello, CCIM and Keith Bilski, CCIM on their achievement.

Surprise, Surprise! Markets are Working!

The number of recent "surprise" reports on the U.S. housing market from California to Florida, are speaking of a nascent recovery in the U.S. housing market that could be the beginning of the end of the decline in that market, and at the same time, could help establish a floor on home prices in the near future.

Houston Economic Update

By: Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas

U.S. and global recessions have merged with weak energy prices to end Houston's long expansion. Job growth fell at a 3.2 percent annual reate over teh first quarter of this year, while the unemployment rate was up a ful percentage point over six months to 6.8 percent.  So far, oil-related layoffs have played only a modest role in unemployment reductions, but continued weakness in natural gas prices may quickly change the pattern for the worse.

The answer to this above statement is "a lot of talking but not much action, yet!"
